Sloth
Hi!!
Hello and welcome to another blog post. This blog post is all about a Sloth I made. This amigurumi is a birthday present to my mom.
Where to get the pattern
The pattern for this amigurumi is by @airali_gray , you can also find the pattern in the book Amigurumi Globetrotters. That book is available on a handful of platforms but I got it from amigurumi.com and you can also get it from amazon.
Tips
Anyway, I believe it is time to get into the tips. The following techniques are the ones I will be showing you today.
How to Crochet in an oval shape
Change color invisibility
How to crochet in chains
Hope you are excited to learn how to do these Techniques so let's get started.
Change color invisibility
Step 1:
Don't finish the last stitch of the round where you're going to switch colors. Instead when you're going to pull through the last two loops grab the new color, form a loop, and pull through.
Step 2:
Crochet a tight slip stitch in the next stitch.
Step 3:
Now chain one loosely. The chain and the slip stitch count as one stitch.
Step 4:
Continue that row normally and when your going to start the second row in your new color don't crochet in the slip stitch crochet in the chain.
Crocheting the slip stitch tightly is the key to the invisible change.
How to crochet in chains
Step 1:
In the picture the arrow is pointing to where you should insert your hook. You have to insert it in between the chain.
Step 2:
Insert your hook between the chain.
Step 3:
Now yarn over and pull through completing whatever stitch you were crocheting.
When you crochet in chains it can be difficult to know where to insert your hook. The first time I did it it was a tad difficult. I hope that after seeing the step-by-step tutorial on how to do it you're able to do it.
How to Crochet in an oval shape
Step 1:
Make a chain however long you want. Make sure it's more than 3 chains long.
Step 2:
Starting the the second loops from the hook crochet until you have one chain left.
Step 3:
In that final chain crochet 3 single crochets.
Step 4:
Now on the other side crochet all along the chain.
Step 5:
Now you have made row one of your oval. Crochet in all the stitches normally.
